NEET is the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test conducted by an independent and autonomous organization – National Testing Agency. NEET exam is for admission to under graduated medical courses such as MBBS, BDS, Veterinary, AYUSH and other medical courses in medical and dental colleges in India excluding AIIMS and JIPMER. NEET is conducted once in a year with approximately 15,00,000 test-takers. The exam duration is about 3 hours. The questions you get in the exam are from 11th and 12th standard biology, physics and chemistry.
Eligibility Criterion for NEET
- Indian national, NRIs, OCIs, PIOs, and foreign nationals are eligible to take the test.
- The upper age limit is not set by the NTA but the lower age limit is 17 years.
- There is no limit to the number of attempts.
- Candidates must have passed class 12 or equivalent exam with chemistry, physics and biology as their subject and must score more than 50% in each subject and in aggregate too. For SC/ST it is 40% and PwD candidates, it is 45%.
The application fee for the NEET exam for general/OBC candidates is Rs.1400 and SC/ST/PWD candidates is Rs.750. NTA follows strict policies during the exam, there is a dress code where long sleeve clothes, ornaments, piercings and shoes are not permitted.
