Beechupally is one of the popular shrines located on the banks of Krishna River in Itikyal Mandal, Jogulamba Gadwal district, Telangana, 30 kilometers downstream after Jurala Hydro Electric Project. The ancient shrine is dedicated to the faithful devotee of Lord Sri Rama, the Lord Hanuman otherwise called Anjaneya Swamy. As the national highway NH-7 passes through the village, the shrine’s development has been boosted to a greater extent. In the 1950s, a road bridge is constructed to help trade and transit from the southern India and Rayalaseema regions of the Andhra Pradesh to central India via the newly formed Telangana State.

The Anjaneya Swamy temple is 200 yeas old that is built in the South Indian architectural style. The inscriptions on the temple suggest that Lord Hanuman’s idol was installed by Vyasaraya. Earlier, only the Valmiki community people served as priests and later Madhwa Brahmins are allowed to perform the rituals at this temple. Until today, the royal family members of the Gadwal rulers take part in the religious chariot festival which is conducted every year in this temple. The descendants of the Gadwal kings offer support to the temple. Before visiting the Lord Hanuman, the pilgrims take a holy dip in the river Krishna. Even a few devotees tonsure their hair during their visit to this holy shrine.

At this location, the shores of the Krishna river are noted to carry out the last funeral rites of the departed souls according to the Hindu customs. For the convenience of the public, there are several permanent ghats constructed by the Telangana state government at the shrine. At these ghats, many people perform ceremonial or sacred baths known as Pushkara Snanam during the pushkaralu which falls once every 12 years. It is believed that during this time, a rare phenomenon of planetary positions give super-natural powers to the river waters when people come in very large numbers to take the holy dip. You will also find a temple dedicated to Lord Rama that was constructed in this area in 1992.

The shrine is situated 200 meters away from the banks of the river where you can find a Shiva Lingam. During the peak monsoon period, the water flows so high enough that it even touches the Shiva lingam temple. There are two islands on the Krishna river that are near the Beechupally shrine, the larger one being the Gurram Gadda village and the smaller island is Nizam Konda. The best time to visit this holy shrine is during the monsoon where the river water gushes on the temple edges that makes a beautiful sight. It is believed that the deity in this shrine is very powerful and inside the temple, it is so serene and blissful, a visit to this temple is greatly recommended as it may help you to get you out of all your difficulties in life.

The Beechupally Anjaneya Swamy temple timings are form 07: 00 AM to 08: 30 PM. The temple faces South direction and the presiding deity of Anjaneya Swamy faces East direction.
