In recent years, Telangana tourism has changed the course of Laknavaram lake to a more eco-friendly nature which has brought it to a place where the visitors can have both thrill and adventure. A chain of 13 islands float on this lake and more than 200 different bird species made this place as their home. The lake is also surrounded by woodlands of Eturnagaram Sanctuary. All these things make the Laknavaram lake as the major tourist spot in the district. Usually, 300-400 people visit this place every day and this goes up to 1000 on the weekends and holidays. The tourism department has built local cottages and huts that offer a resting site for tired visitors.
Things to do at Laknavaram Lake
Walking through the suspension bridge
The suspension bridge was earlier 160 meters and is extended to 210 metes with a width of 1.5 meters, designed by the Bridgeman of India Girish Bharadwaj. The bridge can carry about 1000 people at once. Three of the 13 islands are connected via this suspension bridge. The bridge is suspended with tight steel ropes that traverse in a zigzag manner and walking on it is more like an adventure.
Boating
A popular activity among the visitors at the lake is boating. A boat ride into the center of the lake will give you a thrilling experience. There is an option for both motorboats and speed boats.
Camping and Trekking
Other popular options available for the visitors are camping and trekking. Camping with wildfires, food and drinks near the lake gives you an unforgettable experience. They are many hiking trails which start from the lake end to the inside of the forest. The 14 km long Oddugudam-Parsa lane is the famous trekking route, tiresome yet very beautiful.
Laknavaram lake can be visited round the year but it attracts most of the visitors during monsoon and winter seasons. Warangal is the nearest railway station to the Laknavaram lake. You have direct buses to Warangal from MGBS and JBS. After crossing Warangal, take the Etunagaram highway, go straight past the Jangalapally on the highway, after 11 km past Jangalapally take a right turn and go straight for about 7km to reach the most beautiful Laknavaram Lake.
